In other news, Tiffany hasn't had health insurance in the sixteen years we've been together, and she's finally on ... I think Medicare although it might be Medicaid. She's had her first two appointments with her new physician (also my physician and her mother's physician), and there's news.
The bad news is she's diabetic.
The good news is we caught the diabetes early (compared to me -- I was in the hospital with blood-sugar at 580), and we now have some current information about her back injury that she's had since before we met.
There is deterioration in her spine, which might be normal with age, but she's 40 and she has the kind of spinal deterioration she should have at 60 or 70. The state requires that she try a bunch of muscle relaxants and physical therapy before she can reasonably apply for disability for her back injury, so it will take at least another three months before she can apply.
She's not been prescribed any insulin yet. Dr Prentice is trying her on Metformin first. Insurance isn't currently covering all her prescriptions, but we're working on that.
Hope you guys are all doing great! Stay awesome, Hooligans!
Hope there's some cheaper, non-medicinal solutions you can pursue. I think my dad was able to stave off the onset of diabetes through dieting recently as well.
